LARGE PRINT CIRCUIT
- Welcome to the Northern Large Print Circuit for
pictures in unmounted print format.
- The maximum print (paper) size is 20 inches by 16 inches (50cm by 40cm).
Note: Metric A2 size exceeds these dimensions and will be rejected.
The minimum print size is 12 inches (30.5cm) on the longest side.
- Prints can be in either landscape or portrait format.
- NOTE: Mounted prints or
prints smaller or larger than the specified sizes will not be

The Circuit is being judged by the following THREE
The Northern Large Print Circuit has recognition from the PSA - PPD Division (PSA 2017/191).
The Circuit will be run in accordance with International Exhibition rules and the Circuits
Chairman's and Judges' decisions will be final. Exhibition acceptances will count towards
PSA photo distinctions.
- Opening date for entries : 1 August 2017
- Closing date for entries : 16 October 2017
- Judging dates : 28-29 October 2017
- Notification of results to e-mail address provided : by 6 November 2017
- On-line Catalogue available : 30 November 2017
- NOTE: Prints must be received by the
Circuit by the closing date (16 October 2017). Prints received after the closing
date may be rejected and not shown to the judges.
The judging panels include : John Smith, John Spittle, Jo Knight, Les Ayres, John Tillotson,
Steve Bradley, Tim Booth, David Price, Christine Hodgson
- There is an entry fee of £11 for one section,
£14 for two sections, £16 for 3 or
4 sections. The minimum entry is 1 picture in 1 section (i.e. 1 print) and the
maximum entry is 4 pictures in each of 4 sections (i.e. 16 prints).
- Fees are to be paid through PayPal using either your own
PayPal account or by utilising any current credit or debit card. Fees will be
charged in Sterling.
- The link to PayPal is provided as part of the on-line entry
NON PAYMENT OF FEES
- The organisers regret that entries for which no fee is
received, or where the entry fee is paid with foreign cheques or money orders,
will not be judged or returned.
- Entry is open to all photographers,
amateur and professional, worldwide.
- Sections: Each entrant may submit a
maximum of four prints in each of the following sections:
Section 1 : Colour - Open (PSA - PPD Division)
Section 2 : Monochrome - Open (PSA - PPD Division)
Section 3 : Colour - Portrait (PSA - PPD Division)
Section 4 : Monochrome - Landscape (PSA - PPD Division)
- Same ImageThe same image must not be
submitted in more than one section.
- Copyright: The original image(s) must have
been taken using a photographic process and all entrants must have the sole
copyright to each image they submit. Clip Art and Copyright Free material are

assume no responsibility for misuse by anyone of the copyright of published
- Compliance: The judges and organizers
reserve the right, before, during or after judging to determine without
providing a reason that an image or a whole entry is unsuitable to be included
in the exhibition or that the entrant is not in their opinion a suitable person
to be represented in the exhibition. Images which appear to violate the
definitions will not be judged.
- On-Line Entry: Entry to the Circuit is
made via the on-line entry form by clicking on this link
FORM. You will need to supply the titles of all of your prints.
NOTE You must use only the Western/Latin alphabet when submitting an
- JPEG Copies: During the on-line entry you
will need to upload a JPEG copy of the prints. (These copies are used when we
produce the catalogue and gallery.) Maximum image size for the copy (including
any borders) is 1400 pixels wide by 1050 pixels high. Please
note portrait images should be no larger than 1050 pixels high. Smaller images
are acceptable but will not reproduce to the same quality. Image file sizes
should not be bigger than 2Mb. The JPEG copies do not need to be renamed when
submitting an entry, but do NOT use single quote ( ' ) apostrophe ( ' ) hash (
# ) or equals ( = ) in your JPG filenames. These characters can cause your
internet transmission to fail and crash. Please check all JPEG image sizes
before submission; JPEG copies with sizes larger than specified will cause your
submission to be rejected.
The requirement for a JPEG copy applies to all prints including those
produced in a darkroom.
- Labels: You will receive back a
confirmation email containing thumbnails of all of the images you have
submitted. The email will also have a PDF document containing labels. You will
need to print out the labels and attach them to the back of your prints.
NOTE: Prints submitted without
the correct labels WILL be rejected and NOT shown to the judges.
- Judging: An entrant's images (in each
Section) will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging.
- Titles: The titles of the prints may be
read out to the judges at the time of judging. Do not put your name in the
- Names: No information about the entrant or
country will be given to the judges. A print showing the name of the entrant
will not be judged.

Photographs for Exhibition
- Please ensure that you have attached the special labels to
the back of each of your prints.
- NO prints will be returned. All
prints will be destroyed.
- Status: The entry system produces a
regular and frequent status page which can be accessed via the following link.
The status pages shows the status of your entry and includes details of the
receipt of your prints and your payment. Because it shows the status after your
entry has been downloaded to our main processing systems, there can be a delay
between your on-line entry and your entry appearing on the status page.
- Results: Notification of results will be
sent by email. Entrants should ensure that they provide an active email address
and that spam filters are set to accept emails from email@example.com.
Notifications will not be sent by post.
The catalogue in PDF format will be on the West Cumbria Photo
Group web site.
By submitting an entry for the Northern Large Print
Circuit the entrant permits the organisers to reproduce all or part of the
entered material free of charge for publication in a catalogue, on an internet
site and/or in other media related to the Circuit.
Prints entered in the Monochrome Section
MUST comply with the Definition which is reproduced
below. Images failing to do so, will not be judged.
All parts of the
image must have been photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of
all works submitted.
The original image must be made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or captured digitally.
All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else.
Original images must be altered by the maker; artwork or computer graphics generated by
the entrant may be incorporated, if the original photographic content predominates.
Images may not be constructed entirely within a computer. It is necessary that the
image's core content be identifiable.
An image is considered to be monochrome only if it gives the
impression of having no colour (ie. Contains only shades of grey which can
include pure black and pure white ) OR it gives the impression of being a
greyscale image that has been toned in one colour across the entire image. (for
example by sepia, red, gold etc. ) A greyscale or multi-coloured image modified
or giving the impression of having been modified by partial toning,
multi-toning or by the inclusion of spot colouring does not meet the definition
of monochrome and shall be classified as a colour work.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
If the exhibition determines before, during, or after the judging that an entrant
has submitted entries where one or more images fail to comply with these Conditions of
Entry, including the stated definitions, the exhibition reserves the right and discretion
to delete the entry from the exhibition and void any or all acceptances or awards.
Fees may be forfeited in these circumstances.
In order to ensure that images comply with the Conditions of Entry and definitions,
the exhibition may carry out checks on the images to make sure that:
a) the images are the original work of the entrant and
b) the images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry.
This may involve asking the entrant to provide originally captured image(s), with EXIF
data intact, by a set deadline. The questioned image(s) of any entrant failing to comply with
such a request for the original image(s) may be considered in breach of these Conditions of
Entry, and declined. Such entries may be referred to PSA for further investigation of possible
ethics violations. PSA retains the right to investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of
breaches of entry conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any
image found to violate the PSA rules, include the entrant's name on the list of sanctions
provided to Exhibitions, and share such investigations with FIAP. Entrants automatically
agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition.
